Graphic Design: It's Not Just A Pretty Picture

Bad design is everywhere. Ok, so it's not because the world is full of bad designers (although there are a few who get by), but because design is a very subjective issue. Beauty in the eye of the beholder and all that.

Connecting with your customers is a vital task for your website. What you say is important, but how you say it, present it and frame it are all important choices to make. First impressions count, and wrong impressions are difficult to convert to good.

Your website should not turn off potential customers. It should meet their aspirations, so an understanding of your customer base is key in creating a positive user experience.

Don't be tempted into using gimmicks to try and WOW your users. These often have little functional use. Most people are short of time these days, and the internet is a great place to waste a few hours. Distractions are easy.

My advice, keep it succinct, and people will listen. Only get flashy, when the customer is specifically looking for flashy.
